AMERICA'S UNEXPECTED VICTORY:
A Solemn Call to National Repentance
in Light of God's Mercy, and the Hope of Revival

In the early hours of this morning, we received the news that former President Donald Trump won the presidential election in a decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris — a victory that, in many ways, took us by surprise.

Who could have foreseen such an outcome, particularly during a time of national and spiritual darkness, where we have witnessed abhorent evils, such as the sacrificing of children to Moloch, the rebuilding of Sodom and Gomorrah, churches embracing a false & seeker-sensitive gospel that lacks power, and the erosion of the traditional nuclear family in favor of a distorted notion of “independence” and “rights?”

At a time when America deserved judgment, the Lord has extended His rich mercy. We deserved divine retribution, yet in His sovereign will He has spared us and provided a leader who demonstrates goodwill toward the church and the common man. It is crucial to clarify that we have not received Christ Himself — and those who blasphemously equate Trump and Christ will be greatly judged! Likewise, we have not even received a “King David,” as President Trump’s life suggests that he likely does not know Christ as David did, despite David’s own flaws and his continual life of repentance. But I believe God has indeed given us a leader akin to King Jehu — a ruler used by God to bring reform during one of Israel’s darkest periods.

King Jehu was an unlikely instrument of God, used to clean up the wreckage left behind by the wicked King Ahab, who “did evil in the sight of the LORD, more than all who were before him” (1 Kings 16:30). Though Jehu was himself an unbeliever (and was later judged for his own idolatry), God still used him to bring a godly shift in Israel’s history. In a similar way, I believe President Trump, though likely not a man of faith as we would hope, is being used by God to call us to account and perhaps to lay the groundwork for a time of renewal and opportunity.

Could it be that the seeds of revival, a new Great Awakening, are being sown? When we look at the results of the election, we see a clear national rejection of the radical left and the spiritual idolatry it represents. In states that were once dominated by the progressive agenda, we are seeing a mass narrowing of margins, a shift that speaks to the failure of that agenda and culture’s influence — an agenda and culture that has championed ideologies such as critical race theory and a progressive form of Christianity that has strayed far from the true biblical gospel. Something spiritual is undeniably stirring in the hearts of Americans as they see their Dagons fall — a longing for truth, for justice, and for something greater than what this world offers. They are beginning to see their idols have failed them.

As we witness this movement, let us be encouraged; for God is at work, drawing hearts back to Himself and giving the church a great opportunity for the advancement of truth and justice. As we enter this next chapter in the history of our country, let us remember that our nation’s story is but a single page in the larger narrative of God’s Kingdom, and, in this light, we must turn our hearts toward God in prayer, seeking His guidance and wisdom for the days ahead.

Let us pray that the church would once again stand firm in the truth, rejecting the pragmatic doctrines, ideologies, practices, and worldviews that have long been embraced in an attempt to make the church more palatable to the world. The most loving and perfect Christ was crucified not for doing evil, but for speaking the truth! — and so we too must be prepared to face opposition for refusing to compromise on holiness and the truth. In this, let us pray for the repentance of those who have veered from the gospel and for their full restoration.

We must also, as the Scriptures command us, lift up our leaders in prayer (1 Tim. 2:1-2) — many of whom are without Christ, and are making decisions that shape the nation. Let us pray that God, in His mercy, would save them from their sin, and bring them to the saving knowledge of Christ and into fellowship with His church. And if, in His sovereign will, it is not His plan to grant them saving mercy, let us still pray that, like King Jehu, they may be used by God to show goodwill toward the church and bring godly reformation to our land. Samuel Adams, a founding father deeply rooted in a rich Puritan heritage, once said:

“America doesn’t need secular conservatives; it needs Biblical conservatives.”

Let this be our prayer — that God, in His mercy, would raise up Christian leaders who will govern with biblical wisdom, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to His Kingdom.

In this season, let us hold fast to our trust in God’s providence, confident that He is sovereign over all things. May we remain faithful in prayer, knowing that God is both able and willing to work powerfully in our time. While the road ahead may be uncertain and fraught with challenges, we can take heart, for there is hope; our God sovereignly turns hearts wherever He pleases (Prov. 21:1). God, in His mercy, may be stirring something deep within the heart of our nation — perhaps a fresh call to repentance and revival! We may not yet know how He will move, but we trust that, in His sovereign will, He is at work, possibly preparing to restore us.

Let us produce fruit in keeping with repentance, for a nation that neglects this will soon come back under judgement.
